Residents stated the person began his rampage on Marion Road in Leichhardt, in Sydney’s inner-west, at about 10.35am on Saturday.
They stated the person tried to assault one other man with the machete on the road.
‘The (passerby) man fell to the bottom however managed to get away unhurt,’ the witness advised information.com.au.
‘Then one other individual was strolling alongside the road with a backpack and he tried slash at them and the person held is backpack in entrance of him to guard himself.’
The person was finally ‘grabbed’ by law enforcement officials.
NSW Police stated a person had been arrested following a police operation in Leichhardt.
Officers rushed to the scene after receiving stories a person threatened individuals with a machete earlier than he ran right into a constructing.
‘A fringe was established and – with help supplied by specialist sources – an operation was initiated to find the person,’ police stated.
‘The person was arrested with out incident about 12.30pm and was taken to Newtown Police Station and is helping police with enquiries.’
