Gran Canaria has been hit by its strongest earthquake in 60 years.
The three.8 Richter scale quake was felt in 14 of the island’s 21 municipalities.
It was initially registered as a 4.1 pressure earthquake when it struck at 7.20pm tonight earlier than the revision downwards.
Its epicentre was Santa Maria de Guia within the north of the island, though subsequent reviews described it as being round 13 miles off its north-west coast.
Itahiza Dominguez, Director within the Canary Islands of the Nationwide Geographic Institute, has been quoted as saying it’s the strongest earthquake detected in Gran Canaria in at the least 60 years.

There have been no quick reviews of any casualties or structural harm.
The earthquake is known to have occurred at a depth of 12.5 miles beneath the earth’s floor.
Aftershocks haven’t been dominated out.
A spokesman for a regional government-run emergency response coordination centre confirmed final evening: ‘An earthquake has been registered within the north coast of Gran Canaria that has been felt in 14 of the island’s 21 municipalities.
‘A number of 999 calls have been acquired. There aren’t any reviews of any casualties or main incidents presently.’
