A person accused of throwing espresso on a nine-month-old child at a Brisbane park has fled abroad with cops issuing a warrant for his arrest.
Little Luka Burgic had been on a picnic along with his mom, Erna, in Hanlon Park, in internal south east Brisbane, when the person allegedly approached them at about noon on August 27 and poured a thermos of scalding espresso over the toddler earlier than fleeing.
The infant suffered life-threatening burns to his face, higher physique and arms and has undergone 4 operations in Queensland Kids’s Hospital.
Queensland Police raised fears final week the person might have travelled interstate or abroad earlier than confirming on Monday he had fled the nation.
The 33-year-old man was in NSW on August 28 earlier than he flew out of Sydney Airport on August 31.
A warrant has since been obtained for his arrest.
Detective Inspector Paul Dalton stated the accused was ‘conscious of police methodologies’.
‘It wasn’t till the primary of September that we have been in a position to put a reputation to the face within the CCTV,’ he stated.
