A California shoplifter with costly style tried to cover from cops within the trunk of her Tesla after swiping $850 in items from Lululemon and Sephora.

Emely Yanagida, 35, was arrested for shoplifting at Irvine Spectrum Middle, stealing $600 price of make-up and $250 in exercise gear.

The Irvine Police Division launched footage on Saturday which confirmed officers uncover her weird hideout – as she hid below a vibrant inexperienced tarp in her Tesla’s trunk. 

The incident occurred on Wednesday when loss prevention officers on the Sephora alerted police to a shoplifting suspect who had fled the shop.

Irvine police shared the footage on Fb, captioning it ‘Peek-a-Boo’ with hashtags #dontcommitcrimeinirvine.

‘#Peek-a-Boo—Our Spectrum staff was notified of a lady shoplifting at Sephora on Wednesday. When loss prevention tried to cease her, she refused to cease,’ they wrote.

An onlooker tipped off officers to Yanagida’s hiding spot, guiding them to the trunk of a close-by Tesla.

‘Because the Spectrum staff arrived, loss prevention misplaced the suspect within the car parking zone. A superb citizen advised the officers they noticed the suspect enter a white Tesla #notkidding and crawl into the trunk,’ the police wrote.

‘Officers opened the trunk after a number of knocks and bulletins and located the suspect hiding. #peekaboo’

When confronted by officers, the San Marcos lady claimed she was ‘scared’ after they ‘got here after’ her, believing she was being accused of ‘taking one thing.’

Police then found the gathering of stolen objects.

The bodycam footage exhibits a flustered Yanagida could be heard insisting she ‘got here in with that stuff’ as officers pulled Lululemon objects from her bag.
